JoyNews’ Emmanuel Dzivenu has been honoured with the prestigious National President’s Special Award at the 35th edition of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Awards.

The accolade, awarded in recognition of Dzivenu’s outstanding feature, "This Abled: Friendship Without Bounds," celebrates his storytelling and journalistic excellence.

The feature, which has captured the hearts of many, highlights the remarkable bond between two University of Ghana students living with disabilities.

Mr Dzivenu's story shines a light on how these young women, in the face of adversity, have found innovative ways to complement each other as they navigate the challenges of academic life.

Felicity Wedava Ajure, a little person, stands out for her determination and resourcefulness as she rides a bicycle to attend lectures and social events on campus. She is joined by her close friend, Esther Boadu, who is visually impaired.

Esther holds onto Felicity’s shoulder as they make their way to class, demonstrating a touching synergy of friendship, strength, and resilience. Together, they exemplify what it means to overcome obstacles through teamwork and trust.

Emmanuel Dzivenu’s heartwarming feature captured the true spirit of inclusivity and community, resonating with the CIMG governing council and the national president.

His ability to craft a story that speaks to human connection and triumph over adversity played a pivotal role in his selection for this special award.

He has dedicated his career to telling impactful human interest stories particularly on vulnerable people including persons living with disabilities.

In 2023, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awarded him the Best Disability Reporter for 2022.

He received a citation, a plaque, and a 55-inch smart television set.

Felicity and Esther were also celebrated for their beautiful friendship. They also took home citations, a plaque, and a 55-inch smart television set, as well as GHS5,000.00 worth of gift vouchers.

Receiving the award, Mr Dzivenu expressed gratitude to CIMG for the recognition.

He also dedicated the recognition to individuals living with disabilities, particularly Felicity and Esther, for allowing him to share their beautiful friendship with the world.

Emmanuel continued to thank his editors and colleagues at JoyNews for the support.

On the night, The Multimedia Group Limited also secured three other highly coveted awards.

They include Media Organisation of the Year, Online News Portal of the Year (Myjoyonline), and Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen was adjudged the Radio Programme of the Year for the third time.

The CIMG Awards, one of the most prestigious accolades in the marketing and media industry, serve as a benchmark for outstanding achievements in these fields. They recognise individuals and organizations that have demonstrated excellence, innovation, and impact through their work, setting the standard for professionalism and creativity.
