FC Samartex's CAF Champions League campaign came to an end on Saturday after a 2-0 defeat to Raja Casablanca, eliminating them from the competition with a 4-2 aggregate score.
The Ghana Premier League champions, had drawn the first leg 2-2 in Accra, but the Moroccans gained the upper hand at home.
Marouane Zila opened the scoring just before half-time, putting Raja Casablanca in control as they aimed for a spot in the group stage.
Despite a spirited effort from Nurudeen Amadu’s side, the Timber Boys couldn’t find an equaliser.
Naoufel Zerhouni sealed the victory for Raja with a late goal, two minutes from the end, ensuring the Green Eagles progressed to the next phase and ending Samartex’s continental journey.
After the match, Samartex reflected on their experience, describing it as a valuable learning opportunity.
In a post on social media, the club wrote, "This experience, though disappointing, offers numerous lessons that we can use to improve and strengthen our performance in the future."
The Timber Boys will now shift focus to the Ghana Premier League, where they have two outstanding matches against Bibiani Gold Stars and Medeama SC.
They will aim to defend their domestic title and earn another chance to compete in Africa next season.
