The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has earnestly called upon the Ghanaian clergy to step forward and align themselves with God’s purpose in the effort to rescue the nation.
He highlighted the pivotal role that spiritual leaders can play in navigating the country through its current difficulties and urged them to rally behind his vision for national renewal.
In making his appeal, Mr Mahama drew an analogy to the biblical character Joseph, who played a crucial role in saving Egypt during a period of famine.
He expressed his willingness to serve as a vessel for divine intervention, emphasising that, with the clergy's support and guidance, he can lead the nation towards healing and a brighter future.
Mr Mahama stressed the importance of unity and a shared mission in tackling the challenges facing Ghana.
He encouraged the clergy to collaborate with him in this journey of national redemption, believing that together they can foster a spirit of hope and resilience in the country.
“We are at a time of crisis in our nation, as described in the book of Genesis. Genesis 47:15, when “money had failed”, and all hope seemed lost, it took Joseph, the servant of God, to rescue Egypt and his family from the famine."
“This biblical story resonates deeply with our current reality. We live in a time of great uncertainty, but the church remains the world’s light—a city on a hill that cannot be hidden,” he said.
