The Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, shared the joy of his 61st birthday with residents of the Weija Leprosarium in Accra.
Dr. Bawumia, who serves as Patron of the Ghana Lepers Council, has a tradition of spending his birthdays and important occasions with the residents of the Leprosarium.
Even with his busy schedule, he did not forget them on this special day.
Due to his tight commitments, Dr Bawumia was unable to be present in person but ensured that the residents received assorted food items as part of his birthday observance.
The Chairman of the Hajj Board and Presidential Coordinator for Zongo Development, Ben Abdallah Banda, led a delegation to donate on Dr. Bawumia’s behalf.
The NPP Presidential Candidate donated 100 bags of rice, 20 boxes of oil, 20 cartons of tin tomatoes, 50 boxes of biscuits, 100 cartons of water, and a bull.
Additionally, Dr. Bawumia made a symbolic cash donation of ¢61,000, representing his 61 years of age.
Receiving the items, Rev. Father Andrew Campbell expressed immense gratitude on behalf of the Leprosarium for Dr. Bawumia’s continued support.
“We cannot thank him enough for what he always does for us. Always on his birthday and other important occasions, he remembers us. We thank him so much.”
Father Campbell also commended Dr Bawumia for his tireless efforts in supporting the Leprosarium as an institution and also for individuals, including a girl he has helped to receive special medical care abroad.
