Medeama SC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nations FC on matchday seven of the Ghana Premier League, thanks to a first-half strike from Osah Tetteh.
The solitary goal, which came 23 minutes into the match, proved decisive as Nebosja Kapor's men earned a vital three points at the TNA Stadium.
Tetteh’s goal was the highlight of a well-contested first half. After some clever build-up play, he found space just inside the box and calmly slotted the ball past the Nations FC goalkeeper, leaving the visiting defence scrambling.
It was a much-needed moment of brilliance for Medeama, who came into the game seeking redemption after their 2-0 defeat to Bechem United in the previous round.
Despite the early lead, Medeama faced stiff resistance from Nations FC, who were determined to claw their way back into the game.
The visitors, unbeaten prior to this fixture, showed flashes of attacking intent but were thwarted by Medeama's disciplined backline.
In the second half, Nations FC came out with renewed energy, pushing forward in search of an equaliser.
They created a couple of dangerous opportunities, but Medeama goalkeeper Kofi Mensah was equal to the task, making key saves to preserve his side’s lead.
As the minutes ticked by, Nations FC’s frustration grew, and Medeama remained resolute, maintaining their compact shape and hitting on the counter when possible.
Kapor’s side, aware of the importance of securing a win, managed the game well in the closing stages, using their experience to see out the narrow victory.
The win marks Medeama’s fourth of the season and their second at the newly renovated TNA Stadium, bringing their points tally to 14 out of a possible 21. It also helps steady the ship after a series of inconsistent performances in the early stages of the campaign.
For Nations FC, this defeat ends their unbeaten run in the league.
