As Ghana’s 2024 general election approaches, IMANI’s PULSE Episode 11 reveals voters’ mixed sentiments toward the two major political parties, the NDC and NPP.
The report, based on social media sentiment analysis, highlights a divided electorate, with each party resonating differently among key voter groups.
While former President John Mahama’s promise of change has garnered significant online support, the NPP’s focus on technological advancements under Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s leadership has also captured the attention of voters.
About 82% of sentiment surrounding Mahama’s call for change is positive, particularly among youth and religious groups.
Mr Mahama’s economic recovery promises, especially his “24-hour economy” pledge, have boosted NDC’s online image.
On the other hand, Bawumia’s digital vision, including the promotion of initiatives like CitizenApp, has generated 82% positive feedback, particularly among tech-savvy voters.
However, concerns over Ghana’s economic challenges and corruption allegations have led to 65% negative sentiment in endorsement polls for the NPP candidate.
As the election campaign heats up, voters appear to be weighing Mahama’s promise of economic reforms against Bawumia’s vision for a digitally advanced Ghana.
The electorate remains divided, with key concerns such as economic management and public service delivery at the forefront of the debate.
