The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has advised people of the Volta Region to embrace his party for accelerated development.
He indicated that the NPP under the next government of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will ensure the Volta Region receives a fair distribution of national development as experienced under the Kufuor and Akufo-Addo governments.
“The NPP's proposition for the Volta Region is an electoral partnership to develop the region. To this end, we appeal to Voltarians to support the NPP in winning the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections and implement its Bold Solutions for Jobs and Business.
“The outcome for the Volta Region in this proposition is accelerated regional development. The considerable investment of the Akufo-Bawumia Administration in the region is a herald of mammoth growth when Dr. Bawumia becomes President”, he said at a press engagement in Ho.
Ahiagbah asserted that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) which has received the majority of votes from the region in the general election has failed to appreciate the support.
This he said was evident in the underdeveloped state of the region leading to an exodus of the youth to other parts of the country due to a lack of jobs.
“The NDC's hold on the Volta Region is affecting not only its development but also the political evolution of its people. The only way to end this abuse is for us to vote against the NDC on 7th December to jolt them out of their abusive slumber to rebirth taking place in the Volta Region”, he said.
Mr. Ahiagbah acknowledged the increasing support for the NPP in the region which he said was driven by the middle class and youth who have identified hope in the elephant fraternity.
He outlined that the next government under Dr. Bawumia would ensure youth from the region have easy access to employment opportunities and would not have to travel out to the other cities in search of greener pastures.
He listed the promise to provide training in ICT skills for one million to enable them to access remote jobs and the establishment of free zone enclaves among others as policies that would have a direct impact on the youth in the Volta Region.
"The next NPP government plans to establish strategic Free Zone enclaves to boost exports and jobs, among other things. By including Aflao as one of the enclaves, the Volta Region will benefit from that policy idea. A Free Zone enclave in the region will create jobs to curb the exodus of our youth from the region, boost the region's economy, and drive secondary and tertiary investment opportunities
to leverage the industry and ingenuity of the good people of the Volta Region."
“NPP is grateful to the Volta Region for the growing support from the electorate. The next NPP government, led by Dr. Bawumia, will intensify investments in the Volta Region. The youth of this region will benefit particularly from Bawumia's agenda to train 1 million youth in IT skills to take advantage of global job opportunities.
“This is a massive opportunity for the youth to access IT and IT-related employment right here in Ho, Ziavi, Hohoe, Ave Dakpa, Keta, Aflao, and other towns. This is possible only if we vote for the NPP.”, he stressed.
“These and many more are possibilities when Volta votes for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP parliamentary candidates on 7th December”, he stressed.
