The latest Afrobarometer survey has revealed that unemployment is still the most frequently cited problem.
Per the report, 41 percent of Ghanaians want the -government to address the issue while 82 percent believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.
Also, citizens want the Government to prioritise infrastructure and health.
Presenting the data, the Director of Research at CDD-Ghana, Dr Edem Selormey, said “We see that unemployment, infrastructure and health are the three most important things to Ghanaians and want the government to address.”
On the payment of bribes, 52 percent of Ghanaians admitted to paying bribes to obtain police assistance while 38 percent paid bribes to avoid problems with the police.
“This data shows us that, Ghanaians are willing to pay a bribe to get out of trouble. And that has gone up significantly from 2022 and that is bad. Looking at this in connection with how we perceive the police to be corrupt, it is a two-way stream so while pointing fingers at the police as being corrupt we should point fingers at ourselves,” she said.
