Reigning Ghana Premier League champions, Samartex, came from a goal down to draw with Accra Lions on match day nine.
Benedict Afful came off the bench to score a last-ditch equaliser for the Samreboi-based side at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday night.
Going into the game on the back of three winless games, Accra Lions were hopeful of picking up all three points against last season's league winners.
Lions had a good spell of possession and created a few chances before they hit the post. 14 minutes into the game, Baba Appiga also forced the Samartex goalkeeper into a decent save.
However, there was no stopping Abdul Shakun Abubakari who found the back of the net after a brilliant cross from Fuzy Taylor to make it 1-0 in the 43rd minute.
Ibrahim Tanko's men went into the break with the lead.
The two teams continued to have a go at each other after the break but it was Lions who had the best of opportunities. Their attacking line, however, couldn't convert the chances.
Just when the game looked to be ending in a win for Lions, Afful stepped up to deny them all three points.
After replacing Felix Koduah in the 80th minute, Afful scored in added time to make it 1-1 and secure a point for Nurudeen Amadu's men.
The result takes Samartex into the third position with 14 points after nine games while Lions move to 14th with eight points.
Samartex are back home in their next game against Legon Cities while Lions will be on the road to Basake Holy Stars.
