Former President John Dramani Mahama, the 2024 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the party will do everything possible to protect the integrity of the General Elections.
He said all was set for the NDC to win the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections on December 7, and asked the party’s polling agents to remain vigilant, urging the electorates to go back to the polling stations after voting was over to observe the counting process too.
The former President said this when speaking at a durbar to climax the annual Kajogyi Yam festival of the chiefs and people of Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region.
“We must all serve as polling agents and observe the counting processes,” Mr Mahama advised and called on the electorates to also endeavour to take pictures of the election results as announced by the Electoral Commission at the polling stations.
Pimampim Yaw Kabrese V, the Paramount Chief of the Yeji Traditional Area called on the political parties to prioritise peace by avoiding behaviours that could potentially trigger political violence and disturb the prevailing peace of the nation.
He said the elections remained a crucial moment in the political history of the nation, and asked all stakeholders to work towards free, fair, and credible elections.
Pimampim Kabrese V advised political actors to avoid unguarded and intemperate utterances too.
