Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has hailed Thomas Partey’s performance against Sporting CP on Tuesday night in the Champions League as one of the best he has seen from the Ghanaian.
Partey was one of the Gunners’ outstanding players as they shattered the Portuguese side’s 31-game unbeaten run in all competitions with a 5-1 victory.
The 31-year-old completed 60 of the 65 passes he attempted in the game, which is the third most completed by any player on the pitch, with the 72 touches he had in the game being the fifth highest.
Partey’s 32 accurate forward-zone passes were the second most in the game, with Martin Ødegaard completing the most.
“I think it’s one of the best performances I have seen from him, especially the way he’s dominated the game," Mikel Arteta said after the game.
"This year he’s been so consistent as well because he always has a role, that’s a big thing, he’s a massive player for us.”
Out of the 18 games Thomas Partey has featured in this season across all competitions, only two of them were not starts. The number of starts this season is nearly double the total he had last season.
Partey has also scored two goals this season.
