The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has assured Ghanaians of a peaceful conclusion to its rallies today, as the party wraps up its campaign activities alongside the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking on Joy News’ AM Show, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, emphasised the party’s commitment to ensuring that the final day of rallies is free of violence or confusion.
“We have a nation to govern, an election to win, and a responsibility to unite Ghanaians, including our political opponents. Today’s rallies will reflect the beauty of democracy,” he said.
The Deputy General Secretary added that the party has communicated to its members the need for respect and tolerance, stating, “There will be no violence or destruction from the NDC’s side. We are confident in our ability to win this election through peaceful means.”
He also cautioned the NPP to ensure their members conduct themselves appropriately, suggesting that any actions to provoke instability would backfire. “Even though the NPP will lose the elections, they understand the consequences of attempting to create unrest. They wouldn’t dare,” he remarked.
The NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, is expected to deliver a final address today, focusing on the party’s developmental agenda and a call for peace.
"Our priority is a peaceful election, and we believe the people of Ghana will grant us a resounding victory," the Deputy General Secretary added.
