Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has urged party executives to remain vigilant ahead of the December 7 polls.
His caution comes following allegations of irregularities involving the Electoral Commission’s (EC) handling of validating stamps in the Offinso South Constituency.
According to Dr Omane Boamah, the EC attempted to use unwrapped validating stamps in the constituency during preparations on Thursday night.
He expressed concern that such actions could compromise the integrity of the electoral process, calling on NDC representatives to closely monitor the situation.
In a Facebook post on Friday, December 6, Dr Omane Boamah advised NDC executives to be cautious and meticulous in their oversight duties.
He also urged the party’s representatives to remain alert to any potential irregularities, emphasising that protecting the sanctity of the election was a shared responsibility.
Dr Omane Boamah reiterated the NDC’s commitment to free and fair elections, appealing to all stakeholders to uphold transparency and accountability.
"Kindly find the list of items (Checklist) the Returning Officers and Deputies (and DEOs) must put in the ballot boxes at the various centers in the Constituencies where legitimate filling of materials in ballot boxes will take place."
"Insist and ensure the Validating Stamp is wrapped (not naked). It must only be unwrapped at the polling stations before voting tomorrow, December 7, 2024."
"Do not tolerate what the Electoral Commission tried to do in Offinso South last night by using unwrapped Validating stamps," he said.
