Gomoa West residents, have hailed newly elected member of Parliament for the Constituency, Richard Mensah Gyan for his decisive win in the just-ended election
In the just ended election, Richard Gyan-Mensah garnered 30,884 votes representing 61.6% of valid votes cast against his competitor Bismark Baisie Nkum's 19, 211 representing 38.30%
In the 2020 election, Richard Gyan Mensah secured 53.01% after he beat former deputy communications Minister, Alexander Abban.
In the Presidential election, Richard Gyan Mensah's intensive campaign effort saw the NDC Presidential candidate secure his biggest win margin in the area after securing 29,592
Some residents who spoke to Channel One News, attributed the MP's win to his continous engagement with his constituents among other notable infrastructural initiatives he has spear-headed in the Gomoa West.
"I can't wait to see Richard-Gyan Mensah go back to parliament and continue his good work he has started here" Micheal Anyinsah a resident said
"Richard Gyan is God-sent, he is always here with us, he helps and listen to us. His advocacy for his constituents even as an opposition MP was admirable. I am confident our development would be fast track now President Mahama is coming back into office"
"Richard Gyan-Mensah is a son of the soil. He has a good heart and God granted him this victory"
In October this year, Richard Gyan-Mensah facilitated the commencement of a construction polyclinic for a community within the Gomoa West.

The announcement, made by the Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday, December 9, confirmed Mahama’s victory with 6,328,397 votes cast representing 56.55% of the valid votes cast, defeating his primary rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 4,657,304 votes representing 41.61%.
Mahama’s victory also marked a significant achievement for his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which won a majority in the Parliament.
Over 160 seats have already been confirmed for the NDC, including key constituencies traditionally held by the ruling NPP.
Richard Gyan-Mensah
Richard Gyan-Mensah prior to becoming member of parliament was General Manager for Desert Oil Limited and also served as Head of Finance and Planning with Petrosol Ghana Limited.
Richard Gyan-Mensah is currently the vice chair of the budget committee of parliament and a member of the youth and sports committee.
He also serves on the security and intelligence committee.
In the 8th Parliament, he previously served on the Environment, Science and Technology committee.
