After a break in the competition due to the 2024 general elections, the Ghana Premier League returns this weekend with Berekum Chelsea hosting Aduana Football Club.
The two teams meet on matchday 13 of Ghana's topmost competition with a lot at stake for both teams.
Chelsea went into the break on a high as they beat Nations FC to end a four-game winless run in the top flight. Before the victory over Nations, the Berekum-based club lost to Bechem United, Heart of Lions, and Samartex while managing a draw with Basake Holy Stars.
Despite one win in their last three games, Aduana hasn't enjoyed a great campaign so far in the league this season. They languish in 14th place after just 12 points from their opening 12 games.
Their performances led to the sacking of Yaw Acheampong and the reappointment of Aristica Cioba who returns to the club for a third spell after initial stints in 2011 and 2016.
Five separate Chelsea and Aduana with the former's 17 points keeping them in eighth place ahead of this weekend's fixtures.
In the last five meetings between these two teams in the league, each side has won two games, while one game has ended in a stalemate.
In each of their last 10 visits to Berekum, Aduana FC have failed to pick up a win with their best being a draw (on four occasions).
Following his appointment, Cioba will look to end that drought with the game scheduled for Saturday, December 14.
