The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the damage caused to portions of a statue of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Roundabout in Sekondi, Western Region.
On the morning of Monday, December 16, 2024, observers discovered a gaping hole at the back of one of the statue’s legs.
According to preliminary findings, the statue's left leg has been damaged, and its plaque has been removed. The incident, which occurred recently, has raised concerns within the local community.
The Police have assured the public that efforts are underway to identify and arrest those responsible for the act. Authorities are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
The Ghana Police Service in a statement said it is working diligently to ensure that those behind the defacement are held accountable.
