The Ghana Police Service has refuted allegations made in a viral video claiming that some individuals in Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern region blocked roads and set fires in protest against the Electoral Commission’s collation exercise on 21st December, 2024.
In an official statement, the police clarified that the events captured in the video actually took place on 8 December 2024 and are currently under investigation.
They emphasized that there is no connection between the video and the recent re-collation activities undertaken by the EC in Accra.

The police have called on the public to disregard the misleading claims and assured residents that robust security measures have been implemented in and around Nsawam Adoagyiri to maintain peace and stability.
Citizens have been encouraged to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
Nsawam Adoagyiri has been a hotspot of electoral tensions following the December 7 elections, which saw the collation process disrupted at the collation centre.
Subsequently, an Accra High Court directed the EC to resume and complete the collation process, which culminated in the declaration of Frank Annoh-Dompreh as the elected MP-elect.
To ensure order in the constituency, the police have heightened security and reiterated their commitment to preserving law and order while urging residents to contribute to the peaceful resolution of electoral concerns.
