President John Mahama has charged the newly sworn-in ministers to provide Ghanaians with an honest account of the state of affairs in their respective sectors as they assume office.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed ministers at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, the president stressed the importance of transparency in governance.

“While we were all aware of the country’s poor economic state before the elections, it is important, in the spirit of openness and transparency, to inform the people of Ghana about the true state of affairs as we inherited it,” he said.

The president encouraged the ministers to remain committed to tackling the nation’s challenges while keeping the public informed. “So much needs to be done in so short a time, and I assure the people of Ghana that this government will rise to the challenge and reset our country,” he added.

Highlighting the role of the Attorney General, he tasked the minister to spearhead critical reforms in the judicial system to ensure it is accessible and fair to all Ghanaians, regardless of their background.

“The people of Ghana desire a system that guarantees justice for all nothing more, nothing less,” he added.

President Mahama also reminded the ministers of the high expectations of Ghanaians, stating, “The days of tolerance for disrespect and gaslighting by government officials are over. Ghanaians will take firm action to hold any administration accountable if they feel taken for granted.”

He concluded by urging the ministers to serve with humility and dedication. “Always remember that we serve at the pleasure of the Ghanaian people, and we cannot afford to fail them.”
