President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Abdulai Bashiru as the Acting Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The announcement was conveyed in an official letter from the presidency, in line with constitutional provisions and the mandate of the EOCO Act.
The appointment was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 11(1) of the Economic and Organised Crime Act, 2010 (Act 804), according to the presidency.

The letter stated that Bashiru would assume the role pending the receipt of the constitutionally required advice from the governing board of EOCO, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
The presidency expressed confidence in Bashiru’s ability to lead the organisation in its critical role of tackling economic and organised crime in Ghana.
COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah who until last week EOCO's Executive Director, has been reassigned to the Ghana Police Service.
