The Minister nominee for Communications, Digitalisation and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has affirmed that financial technology (fintech) is a central focus of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
He highlighted the government's commitment to leveraging digital financial services to drive economic growth and financial inclusion.
Speaking during his vetting by the Appointments Committee on Thursday, January 30, Mr George underscored the critical role of fintech in modernising Ghana’s economy.
He stressed that the government is keen on creating an enabling environment for fintech companies to thrive, ensuring that digital payments and financial services reach every Ghanaian.
“Fintech is at the heart of Mahama’s government,” he stated. “We recognise the transformative power of digital financial services, and our administration is committed to ensuring that fintech drives economic opportunities for all, particularly those in under-served communities.”
Mr George further assured that the government would work closely with regulators and industry players to enhance fintech infrastructure, strengthen cybersecurity measures, and promote innovation in the digital financial space.
