Inflation for January 2025 declined slightly from 23.8 per cent in December 2024 to 23.5 per cent.
Food inflation continues to rise as it recorded 28.3 per cent for January 2025 from 27.8 per cent in December 2024.
However, non-food inflation went down to 19.2 per cent in January.
In addition, inflation for locally produced items also declined to 25.7 per cent in January 2025 compared to 26.4 per cent in December 2024.
Also, inflation for imported items went up marginally in December to 18.4 per cent compared to 17.9 per cent in December 2024.
Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics recorded inflation of 27.2 per cent.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages also recorded 28.3 per cent, while housing, water, electricity, gas and other foods had 24.6 per cent. These divisions recorded higher inflation compared to the national inflation.
The Western region recorded the highest regional inflation of 49.9 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Volta region had the lowest regional inflation rate of 18.0 per cent.
