The Council of Madina Zongo Chiefs, led by Chief Imam Sheikh Salmad Mohammed Alhassan, paid a courtesy visit to Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang at the Jubilee House on Wednesday.
The visit was to extend their heartfelt congratulations to President John Mahama, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on their decisive victory in the 2024 general elections.
The delegation also seized the opportunity to discuss key concerns affecting the Madina Zongo community, including land disputes, education, and broader development initiatives.
A major highlight of the discussions was the recent reduction in Hajj fares, a commitment fulfilled by President Mahama.
The Muslim chiefs expressed their profound gratitude, acknowledging how this move has made the pilgrimage more affordable and accessible to Ghanaian Muslims.
The meeting underscored the strong relationship between the new administration and the Zongo community, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to working together to address pressing developmental challenges.
