Elmina Sharks player Jay Asamoah has been charged with breaching Section 13 (1) (k) of the Ghana Football Association's Disciplinary Code, during Sunday's Division One League match with Swedru All Blacks.
The player is alleged to have assaulted referee Eso Doh Morrison.
He has until Tuesday, February 18, 2025, to respond to the charge.
In a video that has since gone viral, Asamoah Kola is seen attempting to hit the match referee with a stone.
After Sharks 1-0 loss to Swedru All Blacks, the match referee was confronted by three well-built fans as he approached the tunnel leading to the dressing room.
Although the police officers were able isolate him with the help of a yet-to-be-identified man, some Elmina Sharks players still got to him.
In a video that has since gone viral, Elmina Sharks player Jay Asamoah Kola, is seen attempting to hit referee Morrison with a stone he picked from the ground.
Although he swung wildly, a combination of the unidentified individual and one police officer was able to stop him from making clean contact with Morrison's head.
