The Overlord of Dagbon, His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II, embarked on a historic visit to Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewusoale I at his palace on Sunday, 16th February.
During his visit, Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari paid tribute to the Yagbon Kingdom for its instrumental role in fostering peace within Dagbon.
He acknowledged the long-standing bond between the two royal houses and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the relationship between their respective peoples.
In his remarks, Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II also expressed his firm support for President John Dramani Mahama, commending his leadership and vision for national transformation.
He praised the President’s efforts to reset Ghana’s development agenda, ensuring a brighter future for all citizens.
Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewusoale I, in turn, spoke about the challenges of chieftaincy succession, noting that disputes over leadership remain a significant source of conflict, particularly in Ghana’s northern regions.
He stressed the importance of resolving such issues amicably to ensure long-term stability and development in the affected areas.
Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe described the visit as a powerful demonstration of unity. He noted that the Yagbonwura’s earlier outreach had sparked a renewed commitment to peace, which Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari reciprocated with this visit.
According to him, this exchange between the two rulers serves as a beacon of hope for fostering stronger bonds and lasting harmony among the people of both kingdoms.
