President John Dramani Mahama has signed the book of condolence at the Namibian High Commission in Accra in honour of the late former Namibian leader, Sam Nujoma.
In his heartfelt message, President Mahama acknowledged Nujoma’s immense contribution to Namibia’s liberation and Africa’s broader fight for dignity and freedom.

“Liberation Comrade, you have truly fought a good fight, and now is the time for the faithful soldier to lay down his arm and take a rest.
"Namibia is truly grateful to you, and Africa is truly grateful to you for the dignity and freedom we enjoy as a people. Rest in peace, soldier, Sam Nujoma. Long live Africa and Namibia solidarity.”

Sam Nujoma, the founding President of Namibia, died at the age of 95 in the capital Windhoek.
Nujoma led the long fight for independence from South Africa in 1990 after helping found Namibia's liberation movement known as the South West Africa People's Organisation (Swapo) in the 1960s.

After independence, Nujoma became president in 1990 and led the country until 2005.
His legacy as a freedom fighter and statesman continues to be celebrated across the continent.
