After promptings from JoyNews, the Forestry Commission has apprehended a group that continued mining in the Tano Anwia Forest Reserve in the Western Region.
The group had evaded a recent military and Rapid Response raid on illegal mining camps in the forest and persisted in their activities.

In total, three Chinese miners operating excavators and eight Ghanaians were arrested. They have since been handed over to the Enchi District Police.
Authorities also seized three excavators, with one already transported to the Enchi District Assembly.

A formal complaint has been filed with the police, pending further investigations and prosecution.
The Tano Anwia, Tano Nimri, and Boin Tano Forest Reserves have come under siege by armed groups engaging in illegal mining.
Drone footage reveals extensive degradation of the Tano Anwia Forest Reserve within just a few weeks of invasion by illegal miners.
