A former Minister for Works and Housing under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has stated that no single individual can unite the party.
Speaking on the JoyPrime's Prime Morning Show on Wednesday, Oppong Nkrumah underscored that the challenges facing the party require a concerted effort from all members, rather than an individual's effort to bring the party together.
"I don't think any single person can bring the party together, anybody going around saying he is going to bring the party together should stop saying it," he said when he was asked what he makes of the ongoing disagreement between the party and Adwoa Safo, and the promise by the General Secretary to unite the party ahead of 2028 elections.
He emphasised the need for collaboration to rebuild the NPP in preparation for upcoming elections.
"All of us must understand that we have to collectively work together," he said.
The MP added that there must be discipline among party folks regardless of their differences. "In politics, you don't need to like one another or be friends to work together. We must understand that the success of political enterprise is our ability to come together and work together."
He argued that a unified approach is essential for the NPP to remain competitive and strong in future elections.
"We have to heal wounds, we have to reform as a party," he said.
