The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has clarified that the interrupted power supply being experienced in the Volta Region is a result of insufficient supply from the Ghana Grid Company.
Clients in the region mostly experience low voltage and power fluctuations, especially in the evening, with intermittent power cuts.
In a notice to customers, ECG explained that it was only distributing the amount of power supplied from the Asiekpe Bulk Supply Point to customers in the region.
“We want to clarify that the root cause of this situation is not due to ECG's distribution of power, but rather originates from GRIDCO’s supply from the Asiekpe Bulk Supply Point”, stated the notice issued by the Volta Regional Public Relations Unit of ECG.
The power distribution company acknowledged the impact of the development, which has damaged appliances and affected the livelihoods of others.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused”, stated the communique.
It further indicated that both ECG and GRIDCO are working assiduously to resolve the problem, promising that customers would enjoy uninterrupted power supply after a routine maintenance work scheduled on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
“In the meantime, our team has been diligently patrolling and troubleshooting our network to ensure there are no additional faults on our end.
“We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we work alongside GRIDCO to restore a reliable power supply to customers.
“We are confident that, following the upcoming maintenance works, you will experience improved service quality”, it concluded.
