Ghana U-15 girls made history on Saturday, April 26, after beating Uganda in the final to win the 2025 African Schools Football Championship.
Goals from Belinda Kpentey and Daniella Abass secured a 2-0 win for Ghana at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Black Damsels came into the fixture following their unbeaten run against Morocco, Benin and Malawi in the group stages before beating defending champions South Africa in the semifinals.
Uganda reach the final following their victory over Morocco in the semis.
It could have been a poor start for the host after goalkeeper Precious committed a howler which the Ugandans failed to utilise.
From there after, it was all Ghana in the game with Daniella Abass and Hajara Adam coming close on a few occasions
However they were unable to break the deadlock as the two teams went into the break with nothing to separate them.
The second half proved a different story with Ghana showing their efficiency in front of goal.
Belinda Kpentey set the tone for a perfect finale but it all came after great work from Christiana Ashiaku.
The attacker midfielder raced onto a loose ball before beating her markers and setting up Kpentey for the opening goal.
That lead would later become two following Daniella Abass’ brilliant run into the box before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.
Despite their late resurgence, Uganda were unable to find a way back into the game with Ghana claiming a historic win.
It also marks excitement for the team who were only making their debut in the competition.
