President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has stepped down from his role as President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
Okraku’s resignation comes on the heels of his recent elevation to the position of 2nd Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The dual demands of the new continental role and his ongoing leadership at the GFA prompted a strategic decision to relinquish the WAFU portfolio, ensuring each office receives the attention it deserves.
JoySports sources reveal Mr Okraku wants to focus on his new role as CAF Vice President, believing that other people within the zone are capable or leading the block.
During his tenure at WAFU Zone B, Okraku spearheaded several initiatives including the creation of junior competitions for countries within the zone.
Reflecting on his time with the union, Okraku expressed gratitude to the WAFU team for their support and dedication.
He reaffirmed his continued commitment to the growth of football in West Africa, even as he shifts his focus to broader responsibilities within CAF.
His departure sets the stage for new leadership to steer WAFU Zone B into its next phase of growth, building on the structures and relationships Okraku helped establish.
