The New Force Movement has suspended Adu Acheampong, a member of its former presidential candidate’s security detail.
This follows a violent altercation at a funeral that was captured on video.
The incident occurred on June 7, 2025, during the burial rites of the late Mamponghene and Krontihene of Asanteman, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
Acheampong, widely known as "Seven," was seen punching a man who had repeatedly attempted to approach New Force leader Nana Kwame Bediako, also called Chaddar.
In an official statement, the movement’s General Secretary, Charles Yomekpe, condemned Acheampong’s use of "unjustifiable force," clarifying that the individual involved was merely a supporter seeking to engage with the candidate.
The New Force labeled the incident "regrettable" and stressed that it is addressing the matter with the highest level of seriousness.
The movement said an investigation has been launched to review the conduct and determine appropriate disciplinary measures.
However, the bodyguard has been enrolled in an anger management programme to help prevent any future recurrence.
