The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reassigned Black Satellites Head Coach Desmond Ofei to focus solely on his role as Assistant Coach of the Black Stars, as part of a broader technical restructuring strategy aimed at enhancing national team performance and eliminating scheduling conflicts.
Ofei, who has been juggling responsibilities between the U20 men's national team and the senior national team, will step down from his duties with the Black Satellites after leading them through the upcoming WAFU A & B U20 Championships.
The move is designed to allow him to concentrate fully on supporting Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo in preparing the senior team for upcoming international assignments.
According to the GFA, this decision forms part of a strategic shift intended to streamline coaching roles and reinforce team-specific mandates across all national squads.
“Coach Desmond Ofei... will focus exclusively on the Black Stars, after leading the Satellites to the upcoming WAFU A & B U20 Championships,” the statement read.
The restructuring also affects Charles Sampson, who will now focus exclusively on the Black Princesses, stepping away from his dual role as Assistant Coach of the Black Queens.
The GFA described the realignment as essential for "preventing scheduling overlaps and role duplication" while ensuring "stronger focus, technical preparation, and consistency" across the various national teams.
The Association believes that these changes will empower coaches to dedicate their full attention to team development, ultimately contributing to the long-term success of Ghanaian football on the international stage.
