The Canada Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended warm congratulations to Dr Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh on her appointment as Ghana’s new High Commissioner to Canada, describing the development as a proud and momentous occasion for both Ghana and its diaspora.
In an official statement issued on Friday by the Chapter's Secretariat, Dr Edu-Buandoh received praises for her extensive experience, academic distinction, and unwavering commitment to public service.
The NDC Canada Chapter noted that her appointment represents a significant milestone in her professional journey and also strengthens the long-standing diplomatic relationship between Ghana and Canada.
Dr Edu-Buandoh, a former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, is widely respected for her leadership in academia and governance. Her expertise spans governance, education, and public administration, fields that the Chapter believes will be critical in advancing Ghana’s foreign policy objectives in Canada.
“This appointment is a testament to her lifelong commitment to excellence, and to the Government of Ghana’s trust in visionary, values-driven leadership,” the statement read.
“We are confident that her tenure will usher in new opportunities for collaboration, particularly in education, trade, agriculture and agribusiness, culture, technology, and innovation.”

The Chapter also highlighted the significance of her appointment as a woman to such a high-ranking diplomatic position, calling it both symbolic and inspirational. They emphasised the growing role of women in shaping Ghana’s future and representing the country with dignity on the global stage.
As members of the Ghanaian community in Canada, the NDC Canada Chapter expressed optimism that Dr Edu-Buandoh’s leadership will foster deeper engagement between the High Commission and the diaspora.
The group outlined areas such as youth development, cultural promotion, community empowerment, and diaspora investment as key avenues for partnership.
“To Her Excellency, we say: Akwaaba! Canada is a country that values inclusivity, dialogue, and partnership, principles we know you hold dearly,” the statement continued. “As you begin this important chapter, please know that the NDC Canada Chapter stands firmly beside you.”
The Chapter emphasised with a message of support and best wishes for Dr Edu-Buandoh as she takes on her new diplomatic responsibility.
