Hitz FM has announced Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie as the new hosts of its flagship morning show, Daybreak Hitz, marking a major highlight in the station’s newly unveiled programming line-up.
The pair officially take over the weekday slot from 6:10 am to 10:00 am, offering a fresh take on morning radio that blends entertainment, celebrity interviews, cultural discussions and curated music.
Their appointment signals a strategic shift by the station to appeal to a broader audience seeking a vibrant, music-driven alternative to the traditional politics-heavy morning shows.
Doreen Avio is a well-established broadcast journalist, events MC and women’s rights advocate. With years of experience on platforms like Joy News and Joy Prime, she brings industry credibility and star power to the show. Known for her work in promoting gender equality in the creative space, Avio also serves as a host of Let’s Talk Entertainment on JoyNews and has moderated major industry events both in Ghana, UK, Botswana and other parts of the world.
Joining her is Kwame Dadzie, a respected arts and culture journalist with a keen eye for analysis and a strong background in showbiz reporting. He is widely regarded for his thought-provoking articles and interviews. Also the host of Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM, Kwame brings depth, perspective and journalistic flair to the morning conversation, adding another layer to the show’s appeal.
Together, the duo is expected to lead a new chapter for Daybreak Hitz, maintaining the station’s core entertainment value while elevating its content with more insight and inclusivity.

Daybreak Hitz is Ghana’s topmost morning show that hinges primarily on entertainment and lifestyle. It aims at giving radio listeners an alternative to the usual hard political talk on morning radio, as projects the creative industry and tourism. It has interesting segments tailored to needs of its target audience.
Doreen and Kwame’s introduction comes as part of a broader reshuffle at Hitz FM. Long-time host Andy Dosty has moved to the midday slot, now called Afternoon Ride, airing from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm. The programme offers a mix of easy-listening tracks, lifestyle chats and new segments like News and Views and Talk Time.
DJ Black, who also serves as the station’s Programmes Manager, returns to the airwaves with Musik Box, a curated music show airing from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Cruise Control, hosted by Merqury Quaye, retains its drive-time dominance from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, now with a new Spotlight segment on Thursdays and Fridays. Dr Pounds continues the evening with Hitz Gallery from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, introducing new features like What’s Up in Town and Something Wicked Sports.
With this restructured line-up, Hitz FM reaffirms its commitment to delivering top-tier entertainment, music and lifestyle content. The station is accessible on air, online via www.myjoyonline.com, and across all major social platforms including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
