Member of Parliament for the Klottey-Korle Constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, who is the Chairperson for the Committee on Security and Intelligence, expressed her appreciation for the continued guidance of the Asantehene, who is her uncle, and briefed him on her recent engagements.
Issues discussed include the security situation in areas of prolonged conflict in the country.
The exchange reflected a mutual concern for the well-being of affected communities and the urgent need for sustainable peace.
The Asantehene, known for his longstanding role in conflict resolution, reaffirmed the importance of dialogue and culturally rooted approaches to peace-building.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, who was recently selected as a member of Ghana’s delegation to the Pan-African Parliament, further shared feedback from the recent visit from the All Regions Queenmothers’ Association to the Parliament of Ghana, where traditional female leadership engaged her on women’s representation, queenmothers’ involvement in peace-building, and the safeguarding of cultural heritage.
She emphasised how such engagements are vital in bridging the gap between modern governance and indigenous authority.
The visit reflects the deep bonds that tie Ghana’s traditional and political leadership. It concluded with a shared vision for deepening national unity, enhancing security, and strengthening the role of traditional leaders, especially queen mothers, in shaping inclusive development.
