Ketu North MP, Eric Edem Agbana, has made a passionate appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to honour the NDC’s long-standing pledge of upgrading Ohawu Agricultural College into a full University of Agriculture.
In a Facebook post dated Saturday, August 2, Mr Agbana urged the President to lead the charge.
“There is no better time to honour the promise of transforming this institution into a fully fledged University of Agriculture than during the next four years under President Mahama’s leadership,” he emphasised.
Mr Agbana described the President as a leader who understands the strategic value of agricultural transformation.
He recounted how the pledge had been made in 2016, 2020, and most recently in 2024, yet the college remained in its current state.
“It is time to turn our words into action,” he stated. “The people of Ketu North are watching, and they deserve results.”
The MP praised the Minister of Education for showing alignment with the vision to upgrade the college.
He believes that with the right political will and inter-ministerial collaboration, the transformation can be achieved in the Mahama-led administration’s current term.
Mr Agbana reassured the chiefs and residents of Ketu North that their call for development was not being taken lightly.
“We are determined to see this promise fulfilled,” he wrote. “This is about more than politics—it is about the future of Ghana’s agriculture and the prosperity of our youth.”
