A potential tragedy was narrowly avoided at the University of Ghana when firefighters from the Legon Fire Station swiftly contained a blaze at the official residence of the Vice Chancellor.
The fire, which broke out in the afternoon of Tuesday, prompted an urgent response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). Under the command of ADOII Bridget Soglo, the crew battled the flames and brought the situation under control within minutes, preventing extensive damage.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke billowing from the building before the arrival of the fire tender. Thanks to the rapid intervention, no lives were lost, and several valuables — including laptops, a refrigerator, and furniture — were saved.

Although the immediate danger has been neutralised, the cause of the fire remains unknown. GNFS officials say investigations are underway to determine the source of the outbreak.
