JOYNEWS has clarified that a man who appeared in its investigative documentary; Power Thieves, is not a worker of the Energy Commission, contrary to a claim made in the broadcast.
Management explained that although the erroneous claim had been edited out of the final version of the documentary during re-broadcast, the wrong file was mistakenly scheduled for airing.
In a letter to the Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, General Manager of JOY Brands, Francis Fiifi Koomson, apologised for the error and assured that stricter measures have been put in place to prevent a recurrence.
“We wish to emphasise that the gentleman in question does not work with the Energy Commission. The corrected version of the documentary had been saved, but due to a scheduling error, the wrong file was aired. We deeply regret this mishap,” the letter stated.
JOYNEWS reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of journalism while safeguarding the integrity of national institutions.
