Residents of Lakeside Estate in Accra were thrown into panic after fire swept through parts of a two-storey apartment building near Divine International School.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the blaze broke out around 3:50 p.m.
Crews from the Adenta Fire Station arrived at the scene within minutes to find thick smoke and flames consuming the upper floor of the six-bedroom structure.

Officials said a reinforcement team from the Madina Fire Station was quickly deployed due to the fast-spreading nature of the fire.

Firefighters managed to contain the blaze to the top floor, preventing it from spreading to the ground floor and adjoining houses.
The fire, which was finally extinguished at about 5:25 p.m., left one bedroom extensively damaged. No casualties were recorded.
Investigators from the GNFS later indicated that the incident was likely caused by a faulty electrical socket.
