Kofi Adu Domfeh, a Senior News Editor at the Multimedia Group, has been elected as the new Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
This was after a rerun, held on Friday, August 22, 2025, a result of an order from the Election Dispute Adjudication Committee (EDAC) following a petition against the original election results from June 30, 2025.
A press release signed by Peter Martey Agbeko, the Elections Committee Chairman, on behalf of the GJA Elections Committee, confirmed the results.
Mr Domfeh secured victory with 20 votes against his contender, Georgina Ama Ankomah, a manager at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, who received 11 votes.
This victory is particularly significant as Ankomah had lost the initial election by just one vote, with a final tally of 16-15.

The rerun saw a 100% voter turnout, with all 31 members casting their ballots, including three by proxy.
The results were officially declared by E.T. Odonkor, a Presiding Officer from the Electoral Commission.
Following the declaration, the GJA Elections Committee commended all stakeholders for their efforts in ensuring a "free and fair democratic election".
The committee urged the new leadership and members of the Ashanti Regional GJA to unite and build a "vibrant and an all-inclusive union".
