Former Vice President and 2024 NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged his unwavering commitment to both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Ghana, vowing that he will continue to sacrifice for the greater good of the party and the nation.
Speaking after filing his nomination to contest in the party’s flagbearer race, Dr Bawumia said his life has always been dedicated to service.
“All my life, this country and this party have given me so much. I feel an overwhelming sense of duty to give back,” he said. Dr Bawumia recalled how he gave up his position at the Bank of Ghana in 2008 to support the NPP’s quest for power, and later left his job at the African Development Bank in 2012 to help the party again.
He also reflected on his pivotal role in the 2013 election petition, where he took the witness box as the star witness, as well as his decision to concede the 2024 election defeat to preserve national peace.
“That is why I have never hesitated to defend this party, even at the risk of mockery by our opponents. That is why I did not hesitate to concede the 2024 elections to preserve the nation’s peace,” Dr Bawumia stressed.
Promising to bring the same level of dedication to his role as NPP flagbearer, he declared: “You can be sure that with Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer, I shall not hesitate to put my all on the line, for the NPP and for Ghana as I have done before.”
