Dr Gideon Boako, Spokesperson for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed confidence that God will pave the way for Dr Bawumia to become President of Ghana.
The Member of Parliament for Tano North drew parallels with past leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, stressing that Dr Bawumia’s journey is also guided by divine providence.
Speaking in an interview with Citi FM on Thursday, August 28, the same day Dr Bawumia filed his nomination to contest in the NPP’s upcoming flagbearer elections, Dr Boako described the former Vice-President as a man whose political rise has consistently defied the odds.
“Just as God helped President Kufuor and President Akufo-Addo to overcome many challenges and eventually lead this nation, He will also help Dr Bawumia to become President,” he said.
Dr Boako emphasised that Dr Bawumia’s candidature embodies resilience, humility and a vision that connects with the grassroots of the party.
According to him, the NPP rank and file are inspired by Dr Bawumia’s leadership and economic expertise, which were clearly demonstrated during his tenure as Vice-President.
“We are not just talking about politics, we are talking about destiny. Dr Bawumia’s story shows that when God decides to elevate someone, no force can stop it,” Dr Boako stated.
The Tano North MP urged party members to rally behind Dr Bawumia in the flagbearer contest, noting that unity and faith would be crucial for the NPP to secure victory in the next general elections.
He added: “This is not merely about winning primaries; it is about positioning the NPP to continue serving Ghanaians. With God on our side, Dr Bawumia will follow in the footsteps of Kufuor and Akufo-Addo and take Ghana to the next level.”
