Deputy Ranking Member of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, Alhassan Tampuli, has alleged a deliberate attempt to shield Ralph Williams, the man accused of leading thugs to assault nurses at Ridge Hospital, from accountability.
The Gushegu MP, speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, August 30, said the handling of the matter raises serious concerns about transparency and justice.
“There is clearly an attempt to shield the perpetrator, Ralph Williams, from liability, and that is deeply troubling,” he stated.
Mr Tampuli recalled that the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, had established a committee to probe the incident after Williams reportedly stormed the facility with thugs after claiming he had not been attended to.
He, however, cautioned that such efforts would be meaningless if the suspect is not held responsible for his actions.
He urged authorities to ensure fairness and accountability, warning that shielding perpetrators of violence could erode public trust in institutions.
“We cannot afford to allow impunity to thrive, especially within critical sectors such as health,” Mr Tampuli stressed.
