The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams (MP), has charged Ghana’s Ambassadors and High Commissioners to actively market the country as a prime destination for sports and recreation investment.
He made the call on September 4, 2025, at the Conference of Heads of Mission and Orientation Programme for Newly Appointed Envoys of Ghana, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The meeting brought together envoys and sector experts to align strategies under Ghana’s Economic Diplomacy Agenda, a central pillar of the government’s reset plan.

In his address, Hon. Adams outlined strategic opportunities for investment in the sports and recreation sector, including Infrastructure development and facility management, Fitness and health promotion industries, Youth academies for talent identification and development and Sports apparel and equipment manufacturing and distribution.
He urged envoys to explore Public–Private Partnership (PPP) opportunities in these areas, underscoring government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for collaboration and growth.
The Minister also highlighted major policy interventions currently underway which includes the Sports Development Fund – approved by Cabinet with Presidential backing and soon to be laid before Parliament, designed as a sustainable financing mechanism for sports and recreation.
The National Recreation and Wellness Programme – anchored on National Aerobics Day and community-driven initiatives to promote wellness, inclusiveness, and mass participation.
The School Sports Revitalisation Agenda – restoring Ghana’s grassroots sporting culture through structured U12–U20 pathways in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, and tertiary institutions.
Hon. Adams stressed that these initiatives reflect government’s broader vision to reset the sports sector, strengthen partnerships, and position Ghana as a global hub for sports diplomacy, talent development, and investment.
