Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has taken a swipe at contenders in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race who claim to enjoy greater grassroots popularity than Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, September 7, Mr Ofosu Nkansah, a staunch supporter of the former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate of the NPP, dismissed such claims as unsubstantiated.
He argued that those making the assertion had failed to provide evidence to support their perceived popularity.
“Talking on the basis that some candidates are loved more by the grassroots than Dr Bawumia without any data or research to back same, I can also say that I, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, am loved more by the grassroots than those candidates,” he wrote.
He added that anyone could make similar claims since “talk is cheap.”
Mr Ofosu Nkansah ended his post with a playful jab, signing off with “Osee Opoofo, the most popular,” in apparent mockery of the repeated claims by some aspirants.
His remarks come as the NPP’s flagbearer contest heats up, with questions of loyalty, popularity, and grassroots appeal dominating the debate ahead of the party’s decision on who will lead it into the 2028 general elections.
