The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has criticised the remand of the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, accusing the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of abusing his office.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Salam Mustapha said Abronye DC is being treated like a criminal over politically motivated allegations.
“You are using your office in a manner not fit. When NDC officials act, they are not arrested, but NPP members are immediately targeted. Some of these people misbehaving; when the NPP comes to power, even if they die, we will go and exhume their bodies and deal with them. Even their ghosts, we will chase them,” he warned.
He further criticised how the case has been handled, noting that Abronye DC himself cannot recall making the statements attributed to him.
“We are in a period where information can be manipulated. Treating him like a criminal is not right,” Salam Mustapha added.
Abronye DC was arrested on Monday, September 8, 2025, on charges of offensive conduct conducive to breach of the peace.
He was arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday, September 9, where bail was denied and he was remanded into police custody. He is expected to reappear on Friday, September 12.
The case has attracted national attention, especially after Abronye reportedly sought asylum in eight countries, including the United States, Canada, France, Italy, and Germany, citing threats to his life.
