Young Apostles' quest for a statement win against Medeama Sporting Club in their first League game of the 2025/26 season ended in disappointment as they lost 2-0.
Medeama's Emmanuel Owusu broke the deadlock early in the 17th minute, and that was enough to see the game through to the second half. Paul Yeboah then sealed the deal with a second-half goal in the 62nd minute to double the lead of the pride of Tarkwa
Young Apostles who played away from home due to ongoing renovations at their stadium registered 14 shots at goal, with five being on target. This showed how they lacked the precision and power needed to trouble the Medeama goalie Felix Kyei.
Young Apostles will need to reassemble quickly ahead of their next fixture, which will be away against newly promoted Hohoe United, whilst Medeama return to the TNA Stadium with some confidence as they prepare to host Vision FC next weekend.
Medeama's victory has propelled them to the top of the league table with three points, narrowly edging defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars due to goal difference.
Conversely, Young Apostles find themselves at the bottom of the table. Coach Abu Abdul Hanan will be looking to regroup and plan for the Apostles' next fixture.
