More than 500 young members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region have declared their support for Dr Bryan Acheampong as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
The endorsement was announced at a press conference in Kumasi, described by organisers as the “political nerve centre” of Ghana and the stronghold of the NPP tradition. The event brought together 20 constituency youth organisers, regional executives, constituency leaders, polling station workers, and hundreds of party faithful.
Speaking on behalf of the youth, the conveners said Dr Acheampong represents the temperament and conciliatory spirit needed to prevent post-election divisions within the party.

“Already, emerging rivalries among aspirants portend a perilous path toward fragmentation if not carefully managed,” they noted. “But in the towering figure of Dr Bryan Acheampong, we discern the only candidate who can mend divisions, heal wounds, and forge a unified party machinery.”

The group highlighted several of Dr Acheampong’s achievements, including:
Launch of Planting for Food and Jobs Phase II (PFJ 2.0) with a comprehensive value-chain credit system for farmers.
Expansion of irrigation projects to promote all-year farming and food security.
Reforms at COCOBOD that improved cocoa pricing and protected farmers’ livelihoods.
Chairmanship of the Côte d’Ivoire–Ghana Cocoa Initiative, strengthening Ghana’s role in global cocoa negotiations.
Support for rural livelihoods under the ESRF programme during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The youth also cited his contributions to education and skills development, pointing to scholarships, vocational training, and school infrastructure. In his Abetifi constituency, they noted interventions such as boreholes, health programmes, NHIS enrolment, and entrepreneurial support.

They further referenced his business ventures, particularly the Rock City Hotel in Kwahu-Nkwatia, described as one of Africa’s largest hospitality projects, which has created jobs and boosted local businesses across the hospitality value chain.
Framing their endorsement as a call to action for NPP delegates nationwide, the youth stated: “We require a leader with competence to govern, charisma to inspire, discipline to instil confidence, delivery to proven credibility, and neutrality to unify the party after internal contests. That leader is Bryan Acheampong.”
The endorsement concluded with strong symbolism, positioning Dr Acheampong as “the architect of unity, the custodian of youth empowerment, and the steward of agricultural transformation.”
As chants echoed through Kumasi, the group declared their rallying cry: “Bryan Acheampong for Flagbearer 2028 – The Unifier, The Visionary, The Deliverer.”
