Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has shared his thoughts on reports linking several foreign-born players to potential nationality switches ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Among the names reportedly interested in representing Ghana are Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah and Nottingham Forest forward Callum Hudson-Odoi.
In an exclusive interview with Joy Sports, Addo expressed caution over welcoming players who previously turned down Ghana, stressing that commitment and team unity remain his top priorities.
“What I know is that the core of the squad will remain. They have earned it,” he said.
“There are players we’ve been chasing since 2021 who rejected us. We need to check the commitment so we don’t destroy the unity.”
Addo added that while each case will be assessed individually, it will be difficult for those who declined earlier approaches to now make a return.
“It’s going to be difficult for players who rejected us in the past. We as Ghanaians need to have some national pride,” he emphasized.
Ghana will learn their group-stage opponents for the 2026 FIFA World Cup when the official draw is held on December 5 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
