A 42-year-old man was reportedly abducted on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, on the Residency Road in Dambai, leaving residents demanding swift action from security commanders and authorities.
Isha Fuseini, the wife of Mohammed Fuseini, the supposed victim, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the incident occurred around 2200 hours when they were riding home from their shop on a motorbike.
In a horrible narration to the GNA, she said they had nearly reached the Oti Regional Minister’s residence when an oncoming vehicle with its lights on suddenly appeared, momentarily blinding them
Her husband stopped the motorbike for the vehicle to pass.
The distraught wife said, immediately, two men emerged from the vehicle upon pulling up, claiming to be police officers. They hit the husband in the chest, handcuffed him, and bundled him into a black pick-up vehicle and sped away
She said her husband was unable to speak to her or resist after being hit by the said people.
‘Initially, I thought they were genuine security personnel and even visited the Dambai Divisional Command to inquire about my husband’s whereabouts, only to discover that the police were not aware of the incident,” she added.
She revealed that she suspected two people to be of Fulani extraction, who had previously had a misunderstanding with her husband about being involved in the abduction.
According to her, the suspects had previously accused her husband of shooting them and claimed the bullets could not penetrate their bodies due to their supposed powers.
She said police came and arrested her husband and investigated, but found no evidence; she believed that the incident may be connected to her husband’s kidnapping.
According to her, she and her husband spotted the suspected Fulanis on the same road where he was abducted, hours before the incident.
Again, her neighbours also reportedly saw the suspects several times, including a black pick-up in the area on the day of the kidnapping.
Ms Fuseini said she had reported and provided the suspects’ names to the police on the same night, but no arrests had been made.
She is now appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the National Security apparatus, the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) and other authorities to help bring her husband home.
Mawuli Atali, Dambai, Assembly Member of Lakeside Electoral Area, revealed that he received a phone call about the incident while at Dodi-Papase Hospital for a medical check-up on the day of the incident.
He said that upon hearing the news, he rushed home and went to the police station, although he arrived late.
He assured the community that he would visit the station again on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, to follow up on the matter.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), John Nchor, Acting Oti Regional Public Affairs Officer, confirmed the incident to the GNA.
However, ASP Nchor assured the public that the police would release their findings soon, promising transparency and thoroughness in their investigations.
